Pulled the pan this weekend. And found the mains were actually in pretty good shape. But, the rod bearing had a lot of wear. Some actually had some slack! Not but around .010 though. The crank was still smooth. So I'm gonna pull the engine and mic it to see if I can just put in new bearings. Also the timing chain has a massive amount of slack in it, so it might be most of the rattling.

Since the motor does not smoke at all, I plan on just installing a new cam and timing set, new bearings (or in worst case a crank kit) and a new rv cam. It is also going to get a serpentine belt kit.:grd:

Took a shortcut and just installed a new crank, bearings, timing set and high volume oil pump and stuffed it back in the heep. No rattles or unusual noises. Even after it took a drink or two! Now it idles at around 60 psi hot and as soon as the rpms come up it pegs the stock gauge. I'm happy with the results, even though I did it on the cheap. It's now ready for the New years ride in a couple of weeks.
