What kind of oil should I use for a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee ?

A few months ago I ran across a very comprehensive oil filter review but I can't find it now. I posted my question on the forum where I think the review was posted so I'm still waiting for a reply. I agree with name brand filters, but even some of them like FRAM are no longer a top rated...

    Be Warned!!!

LOL... now that is not a Wrangler, but it's still a Jeep (maybe the only other model they should of kept). With careful driving and some good spotting in tough spots, I'm able to do 2.0~2.75 rated trails riding at stock height with full skids.

    Be Warned!!!

SUPERD... I agree with everything you said. You forgot to mention all the rattles associated with the JK that I had to chase down to quite the ride. Boy, the bean counters had a field day with the current incarnation. It has it's advantages, but a lot of things were done wrong to save $$$. The...

    Be Warned!!!

LMAO!!! So, the TJ doesn't have it's share of plastic and is it not more comfortable than the CJ and YJ?? Remember back when the YJ guys felt the same way about your TJ?? "What is the world coming to?? A Wrangler with coil springs!!" Time to stand back and rethink your statement that you don't...

    Be Warned!!!

The Wrangler JK and Liberty KJ both have cables from the shifter to the linkage on the xfer case... don't know about the TJ or YJ. Never had anything like that happen to my '99 TJ and I've never owned a YJ. I really wish I would of taken some money and fixed up my old TJ instead of buying the...

    Be Warned!!!

This 35 cent plastic POS part can ruin your day. It's the plastic bushing that the 4wd shifter cable slides onto to keep it in place. They are located on either end of the cable, one at the shifter end and the other at the xfer case. When this POS part breaks, and you're in 4wd hi or low...

I voted for Surf's YJ. Nice looking Jeep and considering it's age, it's a winner square headlights and all!! I also took in consideration of the quality of one of the pictures and how he presented his Jeep....

POLL: How do you like your Jeeps? Stock, modded, etc.

I guess I'll have to say a sleeper... slightly modified mainly because of $$$ restraints. My set-up is a good compromise for highway and trail use. As it sits, it works very well for the moderate to slightly difficult trails I run. If I had more $$$ to put into my Jeep, which I don't, I'd like...

    Gears and Lockers

I'm running 33's on my JK and just regeared from 3.21 to 4.56 and couldn't be happier. Just right both on and off road... a very good compromise.

Nice!! I really like the new charcoal gray color. It's the "next best" after red rock!! J/K... wish they had that color when I bought my '08 JK. Looks good.

    Questions for Liberty owners

Sorry, i didn't mean to come off that you were. Just trying to emphasize the Liberty is a capable 4x4 in it's own right stock or with a 2.5" lift. Don't know what kind of wheeling you do, but the SFA conversion is not for everyone. It's super expensive and quite a major undertaking. Unless...

    Questions for Liberty owners

A couple more on the same trail and the complete set if anyone is interested. http://www.flickr.com/photos/neatus/sets/72157624078223959/show/ The other Liberty has a 2.5" lift and more than held his own.... Got Groceries?

    Questions for Liberty owners

The Liberty is what it is and can not be compared to a Wrangler. On the other hand, you will be very surprised what a stock height IFS Liberty with full skids and good A/T tires is capable of. I've had mine on 2.50 ~ 2.75 rated trails on a scale of 1.0 ~ 5.0. Driver skill and ability plays a...

    Stop Hood Flutter....

It works pretty good and most people will never notice the "ghetto" fix. Be sure to get the "heavy" duty 11" zip ties. The thinner ones like you get at Wally's will break easily. I order the heavy duty latches from DayStar a few days ago so my zip tie days are almost up.

    Gears and Lockers

Your chart is generic and not accurate for all vehicles. I could not find what vehicle your chart pertains to. When considering gears, the chart needs to be vehicle specific with the correct engine, transmission, tire size and speed taken into consideration. I know we're talking TJ's in this...
