Hi guys

Just joined at the Invitation of Shaggy.

Dad had a old '64 Jeep

Don't know what to really call it, because it was in between the time of Willies and Jeep. It was a old CJ 5 with a F head - Hurricane 4 cylinder motor.

We did everything from rebuilding the front axle - with auto hubs to putting in a new clutch once, to a flywheel - because the ring gear went bad to rebuilding the engine twice.

It had the old Vac windshield wipers and a full windshield.

A couple of times we took a piece of tin and made a new floor pan.
They sure didn't build them back then like they do today.

We had a lot of fun in that old Jeep.
I can remember the 3 shifters on the floor like it was yesterday.

I sure don't want to ride in it today - since it is only about 20* outside right now and it is going to go down to zero tonight.
I can remember that old tin roof and how cold it was in the wintertime.
You didn't even want to shut it off - because you lost all the heat it built up while you were driving it.

The nice thing about it was that it got about 25 miles around town, even when we went cruising in it on weekends.

Why can't they build a vehicle like that today?

Well - just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.
