whining noise

starting to pick up a high pitched whine at around 50-55 after the vehicle has been driven a few miles. it appears to be coming from the rear but hard to isolate. the whine only appears when you touch the accelerator, let off it stops, even a light touch starts the whining..anyone have a clue. oh 2003 Liberty thanx in advance.

I'd start with the u-joints, then the rear end.
how many miles?

I'd bet it's you're rear end... had the same symptoms on my Crossfire (R&R the entire rear end) and on my Liberty (R&R ring and pinion).

Sweet..knew for sure you guys would say tranny..whew rear end I can handle..I will start there and u joints at same time
