Shag, you're making this contest a tad more complicated than it needs to be.

Examples:

- 5. Pictures entered into JOTM must be quality pictures. Thumbnails, grainy or otherwise hard to see pictures will be sent back for better pictures. (We are not expecting 20 mega pixels, but no 1998 cellphone pics that are 200 pixels.) So we will be needing "to" pictures in your post, one being the jeep and paper showing Jeep Militia/User name and the picture you want to be voted on.

Are you saying you want "two" pictures, one of which shows the Jeep AND a piece of paper with the requested information?? How do you suggest we take a picture of the Jeep to include a piece of paper so you can see the Jeep AND read the paper at the same time??

6. Obviously it must be a jeep. Any model year goes. Once the site gets bigger, we will eventually change the JOTM to each model, but for now, its all jeeps.

This is not a model specific forum, leave the contest as it is now... all models compete in one contest. Think of all the different models of Jeeps there are, and your going to have a contest specifically for each one?? Way too busy.

8. Once nominated all nominations require a second. (but not a 3rd 4th etc)

This is redundant. The contest is limited to ten vehicles, which in turn have to be nominated and then have a second nomination?? That is going to narrow the field of ten even before the voting takes place. Just let the first 10 that are posted be voted on, no need for first or second nomination.

Just my opinion, which is worth about as much as the devalued US dollar on the world money market..... almost nothing.

I just didn't edit out number 5 correctly when I decided not to do the username on the paper deal. Thats fixed. THe jeep specific rule will take in effect in the future, when the site gets more members, it will be good to have it per jeep model. I took out rule 8 for now as that rule will not work with the amount of members we have now. It will work when we get bigger though.

It's a waste nominating and renominating no matter how many members you have unless you're goal is to increase forum post counts. Just follow the KISS philosophy and keep it simple...

- the first ten to post are in the contest (no nominating and renominating required)
- the members vote (usually by a poll) after the cutoff date.
- the winners are announced

Think about it... 10 people post a pic of their Jeep. Then maybe 2, 3 or 4 get nominated. From them, maybe 2 or 3 that were nominated get the second required nomination. Why have someone post and have to be nominated, then nominated a second time and finally voted on?? By the time the vote rolls around, the field has already been whittled down and the winner has almost already been decided. Your making things more difficult than it has to be.

Another question... how many times can one person nominate another in the same month?? If only once, then who is going to keep track of all of it??

Check some other sites and you'll see what I'm talking about... but then it's your show. I'll be interested in how it plays out....

I agree first 10 that enter the contest is it then no more entries and go on to voting . Should also limit the number of pictures posted to like 2 pictures. We don't need entries posting 5-10 pictures for JOTM . Just my .02 :)

A good suggestion and I agree with 02Liberty that the limit should be only 2 pics per entry, even tho I was guilty of posting more before I removed my entry.

Fine by me. I also need to add if you do own 2 or more jeeps, you can only put in one entry each month.

Shag... if I may make another suggestion or two or three.

We've been making too many rule changes as we went along this month AND it looks like some people haven't read the rules, don't have the required post count and may not own the Jeep entered.

I suggest we CANX the JOTM contest for this month and use what we've done as a learning event. We could then start fresh in July, putting emphasis on following the contest rules.

Another idea... maybe have folks submit their entry to the contest mod to make sure everything is as it should be. He in turn can then post up the entry for the individual. That would save the mod from having to constantly review the forum and making sure everyone followed the rules. You could also lock out the forum with only the mod having access. That way you would eliminate all the BS posts. People would still see all the entries. When they vote by a poll, you can open that forum and folks can comment on the Jeeps they liked as well as the one they voted on.

Something to think about, but one thing for sure is this month's contest needs to be put out of it's misery.

Just my opinions which are much like the devalued US dollar on the world money market... almost worthless.

Norther mi for now
some good points brought up here. i think in the coming months, we will do it where submissions will be sent to me via pm and i will post the first 10 i reciever after looking them over to verify they are legit. and then i will post all of them up early in the month and open voting after that. i like voting on the 15th gives eveyr one plenty of time.

i also agree with keeping it simple. submitting JOTM shouldnt be like filling out the census or a chore it should be easy and fun
