Well I have been thinking about getting a used jeep liberty but really wanted to see what the best year was? Anyone have any specific likes and dislikes per year? Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, the earlier Libertys sat a little higher than the newer models. They lowered the vehicle because of roll over concerns.

I think the '02~'04 sat higher than the '05 and up. Someone else want to chime in here on exactly what model year the change took place?

Yes,they were lowered 1/2in ,probably doesn't matter now days,as just general sag, wear, will have taken its toll on springs.

LOL... when springs wear and start sagging, it's time to get new ones AND go even higher!!

Get an '05 or '06 CRD and you can get as much as 38 MPG. Ive gotten that high on the highway driving 60 MPH on the cruise. Lots of power and torque too.

Not all 02's are the same height. Only the earlier ones were taller. But if you add a 3" lift they all are the same. Generally speaking, 02 to 04 are the same, 05 to 07 are the same, then in 08 there was a body change making them a KK instead of being a KJ.

I think it was in 03 that they changed the transfer case. There was 2 types of TC's used. One had Full time 4X4 and one doesn't. Both have 4Lo.

From 02 to 07 they are basically the same. The major changes in the bodies are cosmetic, such as the front end. There were a few inside changes as well.

corrections appreciated.

Get an early 03....
mine has the 45rfe... and Disc brakes instead of Drums like the 02's.
late 03's and up came with the 42rle...

04's are just a little different than 03's...

05's-07's are ugly.... imo.... different interior and front bumper

08's-present.... Don't even count as a liberty.... imo....
I hope digger sees this.... :)
