'97 3 sp Auto

Have any of you heard of, or done a "Band Adjustment" on a 3sp Auto? "IF" so, did it work? Did it make a difference? Did you do it or did you have it done? TIA! p:

They had a problem with this plastic washer that is in the shifter tower it sits just under the shifter it self and gets worn out and causes this to happen- hope that helps.
