Alright so I hava a bit of a mystery here I recently bought a 1974 Jeep cj5 with a hardtop to use as parts for a 1967 Jeep cj5 that I am restoring. I took the top off and when I was examining it I found on the driver's side door a ford logo, a part number and an inscription that said "door". I knew that Ford never manufactured the cj5 but Ford of Canada did manufacture some military models including the m38a1 which has dimensions allowing a hardtop to be interchangeable between it and a cj5. It is likely that someone just used parts from an old bronco or something but I will never dismiss the possibility of anything outright. So does anyone know if Ford ever made hardtops to go with the m38a1s that they made or how I could go about getting this information?

That new Jeep no longer appears bloated in 2002. Obviously even MOMA has accepted it now. But as the first significant styling change to the Jeep since World War II, it raised a few eyebrows fifty years ago.
