"3. Member or ride can only win JOTM 1 time per calender year. ie: John can't win in January '11 and August '11. If you have more then one jeep, that other jeep that didn't win can enter."
You may want to rethink the wording of this rule... it kind of contradicts itself.

First you say, "member or ride can only win JOTM 1 time per calender year." You go on to say, "If you have more then one jeep, that other jeep that didn't win can enter."

Need to reword to something like... a member's Jeep that wins can not be re-entered for a year. If the member has another Jeep, he can enter that one.

Well... as a recap. I think it went fine enough for the first month. That rule of "50 posts to participate" I along with others thought 1. this site being so new needs that rule bent for now (which shaggy did) and 2. "participate" was to me just putting a jeep up to be voted, didn't think that meant the voting also.

I'd say for month number 2, since I still don't see that many 50 plus commenters, I'd say just keep it 50 to be able to be in the contest but let whoever vote for now. I'm looking in the other forums and there isn't a big selection of 50 plussers out there yet.

IMHO, in the actual voting poll, the rides' tech sheets should be posted as well. This keeps the vote to the entire rig, and not just how it looks.

I agree, the build should be listed, but as info to let you know what the owner has done to it.

Looks in my opinion does play a big part of any contest, especially when all makes and models are in the mix as in this forum. I'll take a stock or slightly modified good looking Jeep over a built POS looking one with dents, missing bumpers and without doors etc, etc any day. Also, I give points to a Jeep (even if it's stock) if it is presented in a way that shows it actually sees trail duty. Case in point... my stock height KJ with full skids and Toyo A/T tires. I think it looks good and with careful driving and good spotting, it has seem it's share of medium rated trails in Arizona, Utah and Colorado. I've even had the KJ on the infamous difficult rated Black Bear Pass above Telluride, CO.

Like they say, "different strokes for different folks". That's why it's a contest..... :patriot:

It's a Jeep thing, not just one model.

I do agree that most contests do pivot on the looks, but a Quadratec Special could look really good yet be completely haggard underneath.

LOL... at least you don't see the haggard underside unless the driver lays it on it's side or raises the front end way up high towards the heavens.... :favorites13:

I think the minimum post count was to keep people from voting more than once, it's easy to sign up for more than one account or get all your friends to sign up just to vote for you, this has happened before on other forums.
