Because someone made a post here stating the new KK was more capable than it's predecessor the KJ. I was too lazy to look up the numbers and I wanted to compare them. Specifically, stock ground clearance, approach, break over and departure angles.

I'm thinking from what I've read and seen the stock KJ has better angles (shorter bumpers), so in my book that would make it more capable than a stock KK....

KJ (Pre Lowered). . . . . KK
Approach Angle - 37.2. . .Approach Angle - 39.1
Breakover Angle - 21.8. . Breakover Angle - 20.4
Departure Angle - 31.5. . Departure Angle - 32.1
Ground Clearence - 8.1. . Ground Clearence - 7.7

Couldn't find confirmable numbers for anything but the 02's. So after they lowered in 03 and the 2nd Gen KJ models I don't know.

Thanks for taking the time. Hard to believe with the KK's longer bumpers. I guess the break over angle would even the score, no?? What about ground clearance... looks like the KK sits a little closer to the ground??

Ground clearance is measured from the lowest part on the Jeep, in both cases that is the front diff. The only thing that will affect it will be tire size.

In my book with the KK having the stronger front diff (and more gearing choices) and ability to run 33's give it the advantage.

Yeah, I know how it's measured, do you happen to know what it is. Didn't know a KK could run 33's stock. Learn something new ever day. Thanks....

They can't run them stock, just with a 2.5" lift.

Where KJ's are limited to nothing bigger than a 32" tire (without SAS'ing, not to mention diff grenading, and no gears lower than a 4.10) a KK's wheel well can hold a 33 no problem. Plus they are running a 'real' D30 with gearing up to 4.88 or 5.13 (can't remember)

What is different between the KJ and the KK besides ground clearance? Is there something new/different in the interior or anything else?

The KJ ran from 02-07 and was replaced by the KK in 08. The future is uncertain for the liberty, most sources say that it will be killed off in 11 or 12 and replaced with a version of the Fiat Panda...

What is a fiat panda and why are they thinking of calling the liberty quits? Seems to be the most popular jeep on the road because I see a alot of them eveyday!
