Got to get this running first then the 66 cj project will begin. Also we only need a handful of parts...the jeep...well...its in need of work...ill get pictures of it sometime soon.

This project was started in 2003, quick history about the truck, we bought it, was restored by the former owner, we sold it, guy defaulted on the bank loan for it and the trailer we sold with it. We got it back at a small fee...blah blah blah...

First thing we did was a 4 inch spring lift high steering arm. I pulled the transmission and transfer case...and thats it...about a week ago i got started again.

I got the 96 vortec 350 running again to check and make sure it was a good engine just to know. Then started the teardown.

I dont have any pictures of it before really, just 3 days after i started.

This is the doner truck, It is my 85 Silverado. The engine is a 468 big block with a 268 cam and some supporting mods. It will be getting a 87 FI motor and 700R4 and will just be an extra truck.

Also for reference the small tires on front where for transport on a car dolly, it also helped in pulling the motor.

Be rest of the build is easy now. Tomorrow weather permitting i will have the bigblock swapped over and the th400 installed. I hope to have the t-case and shafts ready to be put in by next weekend, once thats in i will get all the harnesses back in place, i am wanting to rewrap them with new loom just to check for any "aging"

Then i will clean the interior the rest of the way and start reassembling it.

Last will be the exhaust and flatbed that will be custom built. We also will be "bobbing/cutting" (i think thats the correct term) the rear frame a bit, will be about 7 inches i think, basically just cutting off the frame 1/2 in past the rear hanger.

again i know its not a jeep, but i had to post something around here somewhat related :)

How you made you 85 the donor truck? I looked like it was in better condition.

This truck is for my dad mainly, throughout the years he has helped me alot with projects so im returning the favor.

Its a 2 wheel drive, and also from the day we built the motor, and got the new transmission in it has been nothing but trouble for me. So i told my dad if he wanted the big block i will swap it in, it needs some lifters and the intake resealed so i told him you buy parts ill fix it and get it in.

It will see a more fuel economic setup that can be driven only when really needed, i am wanting a spare truck so i can start tearing my 2005 silverado down for a 4L80 swap, and a 6 liter and now have to worry about getting it done in 1 weekend like i have always had to do in the past.

Hope that all made some sense :)

Here is the exhaust, i put together a y pipe out of some of the factory exhausts from the original 350, and the 85 silverado the bbc came from, then just used a homemade cutout i put together as the y itself, then modified the crap out of the stock D-max exhasut and WALLA nice exhaust.
