A friend and I did an exploratory run on Monday of a trail we "were" thinking about using for a club event this coming October.

The trail was a solid 3.0 with a few short 3.25 sections and not doable in a stock height Liberty. My friend has a 1" lift and tall skinny tires on his Liberty. He did some scrapping on his skids, but was able to run the trail by picking good lines and with some spotting help.

The trail is 17 miles long, but we had to turn around a little over half way through. The trail was a named forest service road, but the ranchers who owned some of the surrounding land decided to put up a gate and locked the public out. Bummer!!

The following day I called the ranger office and asked about the locked gate. I was told property owners have every right to keep the public off of a named forest service road if they did not grant the forest service a right of way.

The ranger asked what we were driving. He is familiar with that trail and was very impressed a Jeep Liberty made it through. Needless to say my friend felt pretty good upon hearing what the ranger said.

Here are a few pics of my friend crossing one of many large boulder fields and one of me after I crossed through. If you look closely behind the tree on the left, you can see my friend crossing the 100 yard long boulder field before entering the creek....
